My art practice is finding its expression in everyday, social spaces, quietly operating within strategies of place-making and relational experiences. These projects can be described as being “situated” and “in-relation-to” a place, neighborhood, particular community, and existing social structures and contexts, mostly outside of the studio or gallery. My role as an artist is also constantly in flux, located in a variety of positions, as project manager/designer/supervisor on large-scale public projects; or as a walker/dancer/partner on smaller, more intimately-scaled projects. Drawing on my recent backgrounds of collaborative art practice and neighborhood community development work, new projects find their expression bringing these disciplines together, notably forming around ideas of the everyday.
I have a BFA in Photography from the Herron School of Art, where I developed a process that spans media from drawing and photography to video, installation, and performance. I've worked for Englewood Community Development Corporation in some capacity for many years, currently as a Project Manager for the East Washington Street Partnership. In my free time, I'm getting my MFA back at Herron.
