My early impressions of the cycles in nature, the layers of the land and what lies beneath it, are the most profound catalysts in my work. My sculptures reference archeological excavations, feminine roles, cycles of renewal and decay, and evolution verse mythic beliefs. I am exploring views and ideas that revel in life’s mysteries and stir thoughts of becoming and being. My thrown and altered vessels are inspired from Neolithic, Cycladic forms and Art Nouveau and Art Deco glazes. They represent the female as Goddess as the initiator of life (more)

I have been creating a lot of sculpture lately. Woodworking as been the choice of the summer. While ceramics has always been my main focus, sculpting with chisels or a chainsaw have been an exciting change of pace. I love the larger scale of sculptures that the chainsaw allows me to create.

Playing with fine Swarovski crystals, smooth sterling and quality lampwork brings me 'creative-satisfaction' like nothing else in the world. Then again, I do have a lust for paper and rubber stamps that keeps me from being 100% faithful to my jewelry line... I have narrowed my art appreciation to these things, but still seem to find myself dabbling with yarn and embroidery floss now and then, too!

The word I use to describe my paintings is Dyscrasia. Dyscrasia means an abnormality of the body, or bad mixtures, or poison blood. This word summarizes my reactions to social, and natural systems that have gone awry, that have been abused or have been intentionally or unintentionally misinterpreted. The abnormality of the social or natural body stands as a totem that represents the history of Utopian and Fundamentalist perceptions. Bad mixtures are the concussion that occurs when two legitimate yet incompatible value systems meet. Poison (more)

Being a self-taught artist, my paintings reveal a distinctive individual style that does not easily fit into a specific artistic category. My paintings most closely fit into the definition of abstract exprssionistic styles and have a surrealism influence. Recently I have started using a reverse painting technique on glass and acrylic plates. The subject matter of my photographs are most often scenes of nature, such as: beaches, cloudy skys, sunsets, flowers, and amimals.

Observing an Indiana landscape, I am always surprised by what it gives me. The landscape offers nourishment for the senses and the spirit. In my paintings I try to tap into that spirit, to translate it, and to share it with others.

As a lifelong Hoosier, I am inspired by the beauty of the rural Indiana landscape. I work in oil and pastel and create Custom Home Portraits in pen& ink. I am passionate about "plein air" painting, and am often painting outdoors, or sometimes taking photos and composing field studies to refer to in my studio.

The process of image making is pure invention. I want to challange myself and others to recognize new ways of seeing. I use materials that feel right to complete an idea. My work is filled with hints to a larger puzzle. Interpretation is open. There is no right answer.

As an artist and musician, I draw upon the interconnected rhythms of the natural world and human culture to engage and communicate. It is my hope that my work inspires harmony - an interactive metaphor of being in tune with oneself, our neighbors and the world we all share - through awareness, listening, hearing, understanding, and respect.

My paintings are done from sketched pencil, with portraits, real life people and still life objects. My paintings are an attempt to connect with the tradition. An unconscious impulse depicted in my paintings are influenced by my culture. My mediums are oils, acrylics and a variety of techniques as surreal, abstracts, still life. Other technique is batik art (wax), where I like to use the geometric patterns and colors as used in the Pre Columbian.
