Description
Our Mission The Jay County Historical Society is a volunteer organization of historically minded individuals who maintain the Jay County Historical Museum, who collect and preserve artifacts related to Jay County, who research and record the history and genealogy of Jay County and who safeguard the arts and cultural heritage of Jay County for future generations.
Background
The Jay County Historical Society grew out of a continuation in 1967 of the Jay County Indiana Sesquicentennial Committee that was formed in 1966 for the 150th celebration of Indiana’s statehood. We have grown into a nearly 800 member organization with an 11,000 sq. ft. museum. We host an annual heritage festival which grows every year. The festival includes music, dancing, artisans, re-enactors and children's games. In 2009 we incorporated The Jay County Genealogy Society and continue to operate both a museum and a genealogy library.

Fees
Annual membership and newsletter: Single $15, Family $25, Friends $50, Sustaining $100, Patron $250. Lifetime Membership: Single $300, Husband & Wife $500. Museum use: Free for schools. Variable for private groups.
Visitor Information
We are open Mon.-Fri., 10AM to 4PM. We have Sunday afternoon open houses two Sundays per month from April to December. We are handicapped accessible. Monthly program meetings are held at 7PM on the 3rd or 4th Tuesday of the months of April to September.
