Description

I am a unique Artist expressing myself through different media including percussion, dance, painting, west african flute, etc. I am primarily focused on the dissemination of West African culture through teaching percussion and the performance of traditional music and dance.

Background

I was born in Ivory Coast and grew up in the traditional music and dance of the Bete people. I started playing the drum at the age of 8. I traveled all around the world with several West Africanl ballets including Djolem, Lakimado, and Ablessi. I won several awards for percussion including a gold medal at the 3rd Francophonie games in Madagascar. I was a member of Lakimado who were the opening act for the Rolling Stones in Greece, in 1997. I was an integral member of the Arhambe exhibition in the Animal Kingdom at Disney World for 2 years. I have worked and performed with local Indiana music and performance ensembles for the past 9 years. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching drumming and more than 25 years of experience performing West African dance and music.

Availability

I am available Monday through Saturday at anytime. I will be offering drumming classes on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings at a new West African cultural center which will be opening sometime in the near future. Contact me for further details.

Fees

Individual and group rates are available for classes. Normally, classes are $15 per 2 hour class per person. Performance rates are variable depending on the nature of the performance and the size of the performing group.
