In a completely diversified society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing tradition along from one generation to the next is the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have. I am from the Pascua Yaqui Indian Nation and Keetowah Band Cherokee. I am a Native American Men's Northern Traditional dancer and I also play traditional Native Instruments. I am an educator in the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. I teach children and adults alike, about stereotypes of American Indians, dance, music, and the importance of Oral Traditions. I have been teaching diversity and culture for 15 years. |

Rya (pronounced Rye-ah) is a professional dancer in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Rya began dancing in 2002 and hasn't stopped since. With a background in theatre, she takes an artistic and innovative approach to every performance. She also has a background in music and feels that musicality is the most important aspect of dancing. She is Louisville's only Tribal Fusion bellydancer. In addition to tribal fusion, she also performs Egyptian and Gothic. |
