Concerned about the lack of performance opportunities for the people of Bloomington, Simon requested permission from the Dean of the IU School of Music, Wilfred Bain, to form a community symphony orchestra. Blue News provides evidence that contemporary styles, such as the blues, can live and grow beyond the traditional flavor while remaining reverent of the legacy. The band creates original music that is hard to categorize but their unique sound draws inspiration from a blend of Blues, Rock, Folk and more.
With excellent reviews of their latest album, "The Signs", and great responses to recent live shows, it's hard to say what's in store for Blue News. One thing is certain…this band won't be going anywhere but up. Their powerful and unique (more)

I am an independent composer of various types of music, primarily Rhythm and Blues, Jazz and jingle background music. I currently have music that has been commercially released and in my spare time work with kids who show an interest in music from recording to creating their own material.

My work reflects the love of Jesus Christ. I use acrylic and additional media to create unique paintings with dimension and depth. Some of my work will encorporate the lighting in a particular room and angle, so depending on where you stand and the lighting, the piece will look unique to you.

Using Brecht's notion of didactic theater as a jumping off point, I'm casually searching for a theatrical form that will inspire the "cleansing awe" that David Mamet refers to as theatre's highest aim.

While I have many creative interests, my current artistic experiments involve the use of local clay and ancient technologies to produce a working kiln/foundry. The goal is to achieve internal temperatures of nearly 2000 degrees, which should be suitable for melting most metals and firing most clays. In addition, I have been sampling local clays for sculpturing purposes, carving in wood and stone (current projects include a fireplace mantle from wood and a fountain from limestone), and the processing of natural pigments for paints and dyes.
