Embark on a journey into history on September 17 at 3:30 p.m. with Indianapolis author Lois Burnett-Guyinn. Discover inventions and contributions of African American inventors, scientists, engineers and architects as she reads from her book, Mrs. Townsend’s Class. Meet creative characters such as Carbon Filament, Shoe Lasting Machine, the Ice Cream Cones, Traffic Signal and Railway Telegraph. This event is free with general Museum admission. Lois Burnett-Guyinn’s vision for Mrs. Townsend’s Class came from a desire to teach her children about the role their ancestors played in the making of our great country.
