Lively Arts Series

The IU African American Choral Ensemble will visit the Indiana University East campus for the Lively Arts Series. The IU African American Choral Ensemble is directed by James E. Mumford and includes 80 student performers. The ensemble performs a variety of spirituals, fold forms, traditional and contemporary gospel music and formally composed works by African American artists. The choral ensemble is part of the African American Arts Institute at Indiana University in Bloomington. The institute was founded in 1974 and is one of the premier university performing arts programs in the nation. Three performance ensembles travel through the program including Soul Revue and the IU African American Dance Company.
