Watercolor has always been my favorite medium, and my preferred subjects are florals and landscapes; however, portraits and architectural subjects have also proven to be well accepted. Some are treated realistically and some develop from, and to, a more abstract point. I particularly enjoy "growing" fantasy flowers on paper.
Although watercolor was my favorite medium as a youngster, I did no serious painting until after my retirement from Purdue University in 1997. At that time, I was fortunate to gain instruction from Rena Brouwer in Lafayette. After a move to Indianapolis, both Leah Traugott and Vesta Seville provided training. These three well known and prize-winning artists have greatly influenced my style through their instruction and encouragement, for which I am extremely grateful. In 2005, the opportunity presented itself to provide private classes to different students, and that is a path I hope to pursue further. Residing now in Bloomington, I have joined the Bloomington Watercolor Society and become a patron member of the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation.
