Riffle-Kouyeas, Amy
Redkey, IN 47373
I am a musician who specializes in piano, but who also works as a singer, organist, and conductor. I perform all genres including: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Modern (Classical), and Jazz (in the classical sense, i.e. Gershwin, Bernstein, not improvizational jazz). I perform in pit orchestras for musical theatre shows, and have participated in some operas as well. I have conducted several choirs, primarily for churches, but have also conducted for musical theatre performances as well. Additionally, I am a great teacher.
I have a Master of Music degree in piano performance and piano pedagogy from West Virginia University where I studied under Christine Kefferstan, and Connie Arrau-Sturm. I have performed at numerous colleges, including: Frostburg State University (two solo recitals, one musical), West Virginia University (one solo recital, one chamber recital), Potomac State College (one solo recital), Shepherd College (faculty accompaniment), Winthrop University (Masterclass performances), University of Maryland (Music Competition), Kent State University (musical theatre pit pianist), and currently am working part time at Ball State University as a musical theatre accompanist. Over the years my students have also performed strongly in several juried performances and competitions including Frostburg State University's Piano Festival, Allegany County Solo and Ensemble Festival, the Cleveland Solo and Ensemble Festival, Summit County Ohio Music Teachers Association recitals.
