Good art provides intellectual stimulation. It is something you can live with for years and enjoy every day because the expectation is there that you will discover some detail, unnoticed until today, which adds just a tiny bit more pleasure to the experience of living with the work. I have no limited style and look for inspiration in my surroundings and work mainly with watercolor's. More often than not inspiration finds me and not vice versa. I enjoy working with larger canvases most often working in 22x30 and larger works. By not limiting myself to one particular style I feel my emotion and feelings for the subject(s) are more easily expressed. |

I create artwork that most people categorize as surrealism. I have defined my work into 4 different categories:
1. Bartzology: The science which studies and mixes beliefs, myths, and morals, to create new theories and ideas.
2. Lunatic Visions: A vision seen in a dream that conveys a revelation of lunacy.
3. Religious: Relating to or manifesting devotion to an acknowledged ultimate deity.
4. Science Fiction: Fiction in which scientific fancy provides plots for adventure stories concerning the future condition of man and society. |

Inspiration comes from many sources. Many of the interests I currently hold I have had since I was young. I have always loved stories- folk tales, myths, fairy tales, and legends. Much of my inspiration is drawn from other artists I admire, such as the artists of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. I love animals, and have been around them all my life. My full time job is teaching art to individuals with developmental disabilities at L.I.F.E. Adult Day Academy. My students at the academy live with disabilities such as mental retardation, downs syndrome and traumatic brain injuries. They are very creative and affectionate and I love them as my own family. As a theatre/dance artist, I perform and tour several one-woman shows including a drama about the Underground Railroad, a Cinderella show, Mime, and a Polynesian Review which includes many instruments from the islands. I create traditional portraits in oil, pastel and charcoal. When painting a formal portrait, I prefer to make quick studies of my subject and then work from photographs and the studies in my studio. I also paint landscapes in oil. I have made several drawings and paintings of the Hawaiian islands. My work is very representational; my style is realistic in the sense you will always recognize the subject. |
